Curved ends without a separate lid

A pillow box gains its volume when two curved end flaps are pressed inward. The shape uses little material, closes without a complex base and works best with flexible stock that can hold a clean curved score.

From measurements to a usable template

Score the curves carefully

Curved folds are easier with a blunt scoring tool and medium cardstock. Test the fold direction before decoration, because reversing the score can crack coated paper or leave uneven ends.

What does end depth control?

It controls how strongly the ends bow inward and therefore how much thickness the center of the pillow box can hold.

Does a pillow box need glue?

The long side seam is glued. The curved end flaps usually close by overlapping and flexing into place.
